VJ Day

Victory over Japan Day, also known as VJ Day or Victory in the Pacific Day is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in WW2, in effect bringing the war to an end. The 15th of August 1945 the UK declared VJ Day and joy and celebration was held around the world.  

This year on Tuesday the 15th of August a gathering will take place on the Town Hall steps at 11am to commemorate those who fell throughout the Second World War. There will be a short service and wreath laying on the Cenotaph.
