Skipton Ghost Cruise
A brand‑new visitor experience has launched in Skipton this October, bringing the town’s ghost stories, folklore and darker history to life in a completely new way — on the water.
The Skipton Ghost Cruise is a collaboration between two award‑winning local attractions, Skipton Boat Trips and Yorkshire Ghost Tours. Taking place aboard Skipton Boat Trips’ Cobbydale, this one‑hour cruise blends live theatre, storytelling and atmospheric history as you travel along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
What to Expect
Passengers are joined by a professional character guide from Yorkshire Ghost Tours, who performs live throughout the journey. Instead of recorded commentary, guests enjoy an engaging mix of:
- Local folklore and eerie tales
- Gruesome and darker moments from Skipton’s past
- Unexplained happenings
- Stories of characters connected to the town and surrounding area
The cruise departs from Skipton’s historic canal basin and returns approximately one hour later.
Family Information
The experience is designed to be atmospheric and entertaining rather than a full horror attraction, combining history, theatre and dark Yorkshire humour. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult, though some stories include ghosts, crime, death and other darker themes. Selected Halloween sailings include a small bag of sweets for younger passengers.
