Woolly Sheep Trail 2026

The flock have ventured into Skipton for a special summer adventure!

From July 3rd to September 27th, follow our woolly wanderers around Skipton and see how many of the colourful, quirky sheep you can spot. Each one has its own name, personality, its own story and plenty of Yorkshire charm.

Local weavers and knitters have been busy clicking needles and spinning magic to bring this year’s flock to life. Every sheep is handmade with love, wool and a whole lot of Yorkshire creativity — proof that our crafty makers are the real heroes of the herd.

Grab a map, round up the family and get ready for a baa‑rilliant summer trail around the happiest place to live!

ABOUT THE TRAIL

  • Follow the map to discover the names of each of the 21 woolly sheep models around Skipton town centre. Each location is marked with a sheep graphic.
  • As you find each one, you can either write it’s name down on the trail sheet or collect the stamp for the ‘passport’.
  • Once you’ve found all the names or collected all of the stamps, fill in your details, carefully remove the trail sheet and place it into the collection box in Craven Court.
  • The winner will be drawn at random and, once selected, will receive a prize hamper of goodies donated by local businesses.

At the end of the trail, each of the sheep will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Spirit of Endeavour charity – providing accessible canal trips around Skipton.

CHARITY AUCTION

Since December last year, wonderful volunteers have been creating the woolly sheep for shops across Skipton.  Every one of the sheep has been made by hand, with their outfit and accessories either knitted, crocheted, sewn or made by hand.

The sheep have been donated for auction to benefit Spirit of Endeavour – which has spent almost half a century of providing accessible canal trips around Skipton. Crewed entirely by volunteers, we take over 1,000 people every year onto the canal – people who might otherwise never be able to access it.

By participating in the auction, you’re not just acquiring remarkable unique handmade items; you’re also making a meaningful difference in the lives of those the charity works with.

PLACE YOUR BID ON THE AUCTION HERE.
