YFOS – Meet Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking
Meet Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking – Prepare to be drawn into the wide world of mischief, chaos and confusion in Sophie’s storytelling performance of the brave, strong and adventurous 9-year-old Pippi Longstocking.
Pippi moves into her new home with her monkey and horse (but with no parents and no rules!) Soon she brings disorder, confusion and noise to the people living in a quiet, ordinary and traditional town. Well… what else would you expect from the daughter of a swashbuckling pirate captain?
Despite being a story that’s 77 years old, Pippi, being a self-sufficient, independent and truthful girl who stands up against prejudice and authoritarianism, is more current than ever. So join Sophie Miller as she tells the story of Pippi Longstocking in her amazing feat of storytelling as she brings this fearless female adventurer to life.
There is a short creative workshop for children to participate in after the storytelling.
Artist Bio: Sophie Miller wrote and performed in her debut solo spoken word play Never Stop Loving You at Edinburgh Free Fringe 2019, and later she starred in Meet Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking at Edinburgh Fringe 2021. Sophie is an avid reader and as a child thought she was Pippi!
