Settle Orchestra Spring Concert
Mendelssohn, The Hebrides Overture – sea swell, breaking waves and a storm followed by a tranquil calm: the changeable beauty of the Hebrides Islands in music.
Mendelssohn, Fair Melusine – the mermaid Melusine is in her element in the serene sea in this piece, contrasted with the tempestuousness of her time on land with her husband, the knight Raimund.
Tchaikovsky, Variations on a Rococo Theme – a simple, elegant theme with eight variations. A chance for our principal cellist, Bob Buller, to showcase his talent.
Beethoven, Symphony No 2 – a lively and exuberant end to the programme.
