Life and Beth by Alan Ayckbourn (Comedy)

Beth has survived her first months as a widow. Now she faces her first Christmas without Gordon, and she is surprised to find she rather likes the peace and quiet.

Her family is less sure. Gordon’s sister Connie is fond of a drink and fonder of her late brother. Son Martin turns up with his silent girlfriend Ella and enough decorations for a department store. And David, the local vicar, calls round with a prayer for Beth that does more than anyone bargained for.

Because Gordon is back. The man who had a rule for everything has returned to look after his wife, whether she wants him to or not.

Life and Beth is Alan Ayckbourn at his best. Sharp, funny and full of heart, it is a play about families, the ties that bind us, and the courage it takes to cut them loose. Join us for the first production of our 2027 season.
