Cantores Salicium – Remembrance Sunday concert

Through the eyes of a child

This year the theme is children and how they are affected by conflict and climate change. There are poems by children about each of these, as well as poetry by Wilfred Owen, John Donne, Rudyard Kipling and others. Perhaps most poignant of all is a short poem written in English by a nine year-old Palestinian girl, who was later killed by an Israeli bomb.

The readings alternate with the music, by Victoria – some of his Requiem for Six Voices –  Weelkes, Clemens non Papa’s motet ‘A voice is heard in Rama’ depicting a woman mourning her children and Richard Rodney Bennett’s Close now thine Eyes,’ originally written for the funeral of Linda McCartney.

The event is finished.
