Grassington to Burnsall

This spectacular route heads south down the Wharfedale Valley to the beautiful village of Burnsall. It then loops back on the north side of the River Wharfe and passes through Hebden for more scenic views of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Must see

The parish church of St Wilfrid’s in Burnsall (pictured) is a Grade-I listed building containing an 11th-century font carved with bird and beasts, twelve Anglo-Saxon sculpture fragments and a 14th-century depiction of the Adoration of the Magi.

From the Grassington National Park Centre car park, exit and turn left. Follow Station Road/B6265 until just after you cross the river, then turn left signposted to Linton.

Stay on this road for 1 km until you reach a T-junction just over a river bridge. Here, turn right onto Church Road. After a short climb you will come to a crossroads, turn left here onto the B6160 and stay on the road for 4.5km to

By the Red Lion pub in Burnsall, turn left and cross the river. In 300m look out for the next road on the left and take this onto Hartlington Raikes. After 200m take the next left, Skuff Road, which later will merge onto Burnsall Lane and Mill Lane. Stay on here for 2km for the climb up to Hebden.

Ride through Hebden Main Street, until you reach the B6265 where you need to turn left. Stay on this road for 3km until you return to Grassington.
