Skipton Civic Society invites families and young adults to explore the town’s hidden treasures through hands-on art sessions with Ailsa Lewer and Carine Brosse. Join in with fun, creative activities based on the newly created heritage trail on the ‘What Was Here?’ app, funded by Historic England’s High Streets Heritage Action Zone.\n \nDrop into Craven Arts House from 2 to 4pm on 3, 10, and 17 March and delve into the stories behind Skipton’s iconic landmarks. Have you ever noticed the cornucopia in the arms of the war memorial’s winged figure? Or the intricate carvings at the entrance of Skipton Library? How about the dragon on the front of the train station? Use these stunning heritage features as inspiration to create unique ink prints by hand, which you can take home and proudly display.\nChildren should be accompanied by an adult—because who says the kids should have all the fun? Make beautiful art pieces together!\n \nLeave your mark on our textile map of Skipton’s High Street, contributing to a collaborative exhibition. We will showcase the finished piece at Skipton Town Hall on Saturday, 30 March, from 1 to 4pm. Join us then in celebrating the culmination of the Heritage Action Zone and take part in more free workshops with Ailsa and Carine on the day.\n \n
