SUMMARY:Thursday Film Club: Little Women (2019)
DESCRIPTION:\nSkipton Town Hall’s first iteration of its “Thursday Film Club” begins with “Little Women”.\nGreta Gerwig’s acclaimed adaptation of Little Women (2019) breathes new life into Louisa May Alcott’s timeless tale of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate love, ambition, and identity in post-Civil War America. With a bold narrative structure that jumps between past and present, Gerwig weaves a poignant, modern perspective into the classic coming-of-age story. Saoirse Ronan leads a stellar ensemble cast, including Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Timothée Chalamet, and Meryl Streep, in a visually rich and emotionally resonant film that has become a new classic in its own right.\nSet against painterly New England backdrops and driven by Alexandre Desplat’s evocative score, Little Women offers a heartfelt meditation on art, womanhood, and the power of storytelling. Whether you’re discovering the March sisters for the first time or returning to them like old friends, this Oscar-nominated adaptation is a cinematic experience not to be missed. Join us for a screening that celebrates the enduring spirit of one of literature’s most beloved families.\n\n\nDuration:\n\n2 hours 15 minutes\n\n\n\nImportant Information:\n\nThis film is classified as a “U” certificate in the UK.\n\n\n
